Important Scholarship Information

The following scholarships are available to Local 11 members and their families who meet the specific scholarship requirements.


Each individual scholarship has its’ own requirements and rules for application. It is very important that you are aware of the APPLICATION RULES and DEADLINES for each scholarship. Application deadlines can be as early as February 1st to as late as April 1st in the year the scholarship is offered.


If you have missed an application deadline we encourage you to read the following scholarship application rules and requirements, so that you are better prepared to make an application for next years scholarship offerings when they become available.


Please be aware that the rules and applications for each scholarship are different, and not all scholarships are offered every year.

North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) Governing Board of President’s Scholarship Program

Active members of an NABTU applying for admission to the B.A. in Construction Management may also apply for one of 14 available scholarships. Complete an application. The scholarship criteria for a member of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers is as follows:


  • Must be a member in good standing
  • Must have applied to the Rowan University Construction Management Program
  • Must provide a letter of reference from their Local Union or the International Union
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to maintain the GBOP Scholarship

2019 CISCO Scholarship Applications Are Now Available


CISCO Launches 2019 Scholarship Program – Application Deadline – February 22, 2019


Seven scholarships available; deadline for applications Feb. 22, 2019

The Construction Industry Service Corporation is now accepting applications for its 2019 Scholarship

Program. The three different program categories enable a wider range of the children of both building

trade union members and union contractor employees to apply.

CISCO offers (3), four-year scholarships ($2,000/year) to high school seniors; (2), two-year awards

($1,000/year) for seniors planning to attend community college; and (2), two-year continuing education

awards ($1,000/year) to adult union members or contractor employees.

“A highly-trained, innovative and educated workforce is the key to keeping our industry and other

businesses at the top,” says CISCO Executive Director Dan Allen. “Training our future generations

needs to be priority one. “Every person who applies is already a winner as each year we read entries

from increasingly talented students. This is a testament to our construction industry parents and

families who have instilled a strong work ethic and character in their children.”

Applications for each of the three categories of scholarships are available at www.cisco.org/

scholarships/ or by calling CISCO at 630-472-9411. The program was established in 1994 in order to

provide educational support for CISCO members and their families.

All applications and accompanying documents must be postmarked by February 22, 2019 to be

eligible for consideration. Winners will be notified in mid-March and awards will be presented at

CISCO’s Annual Luncheon in April, 2018. For judging criteria, application information, and eligibility

Each year, the Chicago Federation of Labor awards 10 scholarships to high school seniors, valued at $2,000 each. The funds may be used at any accredited college or university in the United States.


  • The applicant must be a senior in high school and graduating in the spring of 2019.
  • Either the applicant or the applicant’s parent must be a member in good standing of a CFL-affiliated union. To confirm a union’s affiliation status, please call 312.222.1000.
  • The applicant must choose to enter either the Random Drawing or Academic Competition for the William A. Lee Memorial Scholarship. Students are not eligible to enter both categories. APPLICANTS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER BOTH CATEGORIES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
  • Only completed applications, with the personal essay, will be accepted.



Completed applications must be received by the Chicago Federation of Labor by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019. The Chicago Federation of Labor is located at 130 E. Randolph Street, Suite 2600, Chicago, IL 60601. Applications may be dropped off at the office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Mailed applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.

2019 CRCA Scholarship

The Chicago Roofing Contractors Association will award at least one $4,000 renewable scholarship to a high school senior who will enter college in August or September each year in the following programs – liberal arts and sciences, engineering, architecture or business. The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis of academic performance, faculty recommendation, extracurricular activities, employment experience, and a demonstrated interest in a productive career.


2019 Union Plus Scholarship

  • Application deadline: 12:00pm (noon, Eastern Time), Thursday, January 31, 2019.
  • Current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations) are eligible. Grandchildren are not eligible unless a legal dependent (as defined by IRS regulations).  At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant’s spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31, 2019.
  • Members of participating unions from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada are eligible.
  • The applicant must be accepted into a U.S. accredited college, university, community college, technical or trade school at the time the award is issued.  Awards must be used for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
  • Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.

The Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties

The Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties' Scholarship chair Becky Fallin, President of RHL Insulation and Firestopping, Inc. is pleased to announce the Annual Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties Scholarship Program. Since the program's inception in 1996, the association has awarded over $100,000 to deserving scholars who will be pursuing degrees the construction field.


Applicants must be the son/daughter of an owner OR Applicant must be a son/daughter of a full-time employee of a CAWGC member company OR a son/daughter of a Will/Grundy union building tradesman, who will be attending college full-time in the Fall of 2019 or a present full-time college student who is pursuing an undergraduate degree.


A construction related major and a "C or better" average is also required. The application deadline is March 15, 2019.   An interview will be required for all first-time finalists. Recipients will be announced early May.
